Tyre pressure monitoring to improve autonomous vehicles safety
Falken’s parent company, Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI), has developed a solution to remotely monitor the tyre pressure of an unoccupied vehicle. In a crucial step towards ensuring the safety of autonomous vehicles Level 4 and above, SRI has successfully established links between its Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and an Autonomous Driving Control Centre.
Can AI improve tyre durability and performance levels?
Falken’s parent company, Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI), has developed new technology that utilises AI to predict the properties of rubber and detects how structural changes, due to load and wear, will affect performance throughout a tyre’s life cycle.
Tech could remove the need for batteries in automotive applications
A new technology that could see tyres generate electricity whilst driving is being developed by engineers in Japan. Falken’s parent company, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, together with Professor Hiroshi Tani of Kansai University, have developed the Energy Harvester that takes advantage of the build up of static electricity, known as frictional charging, to produce power efficiently as the tyre turns.
