Energy Micro launches EFM32 Tiny Gecko microcontrollers for low power, space and cost sensitive applications

Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller company, has announced a range of entry-level devices for low power applications subject to stringent PCB space and product cost limitations. At a sub-Dollar price, the EFM32 'Tiny Gecko' (TG) microcontrollers offer the energy-efficient performance of the company's bigger Gecko products combined with smaller Flash and RAM combinations and a choice of space saving QFN20, QFN32 and QFN64 packaging.

Energy Micro has announced it is to begin development of a companion range of low power RF transceiver products. In line with its successful microcontroller design philosophy, Energy Micro is aiming to produce RF devices consuming a quarter of the energy of existing leading edge products.

Energy Micro development kit enables real-time energy profiling for optimising application power

Energy Micro today announced a development kit for its EFM32 Gecko MCU family providing users with a unique Advanced Energy Monitoring (AEM) system. Via a large in-built LCD screen and preconfigured GUI, AEM enables users to accurately view a prototype application's current consumption data in real time, enabling early identification and removal of adverse energy drains.

Energy Micro claims world's most energy efficient microcontroller

Energy Micro has announced the availability of its first products, the 32-bit EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family. Based on the ultra-efficient ARM® Cortex(TM)-M3 microcontroller architecture, the EFM32G has been proven to extend battery life by a factor of four, consuming a quarter of the energy required by existing 8, 16 or 32-bit microcontrollers.
