UK/Ireland distributors forecast upbeat 2018
The UK & Ireland electronic component market is forecast to grow in the range 6.5%-to-10.5% in 2018, achieving a mid-point of 8.5%, according to figures released by UK distribution association afdec. According to market analyst Aubrey Dunford, the UK and Ireland distribution market will grow 17% in 2017, and the distributors’ share of the overall Total Available Market (TAM) in the UK will have risen to 40%.

Distribution industry association afdec is forecasting a 2.5 per cent uptick in UK and Ireland component distribution sales to £1.08bn in 2017. Analyst Aubrey Dunford says that semiconductors are fuelling the growth, and that distributors are growing their share of the overall electronic components total available market (TAM).

ECSN April figures show continuing steady growth

Consolidated April performances figures released by the AFDEC Group within the ECSN showed that total monthly billings were 2% than they were in April 2014. The figures also showed an increase in the book-to-bill ratio, led by the semiconductor and electro-mechanical market sectors. However, compared to the previous month, the industry experienced a 14% decline.
