Broadcom Corporation has introduced a new family of 10 Gigabit multiport Ethernet switches, adding to Broadcom's leading StrataConnect switch portfolio.  Broadcom's new SoC family is designed to improve and future proof control plane and data plane connectivity by combining 1G, 2.5G, and 10G performance and diverse and flexible input/outputs (I/Os) at very low power consumption.

A secure processor that delivers security, networking and multimedia capabilities for endpoint applications aggregating data from IoT applications, has been introduced by Broadcom. The company claims that the secure processor delivers unmatched performance and allows manufacturers to address the performance and security concerns of end customers when using IoT, point-of-sale, and other networked applications.

Broadcom has revealed that Xiaomi has selected the company's 2X2 MIMO 5G WiFi combo chip for the smart 4K Mi TV2. Broadcom's BCM43569 5G WiFi  (802.11ac) solution with integrated beamforming technology enables manufacturers of home entertainment platforms to deliver the speed, range and bandwidth required for streaming HD content, interactive online gaming and seamless connectivity with mobile devices.

A multi-standard smartphone PMU has been introduced by Broadcom, driving Rezence technology into the mainstream while providing compatibility with existing deployed standards. The BCM59350 wireless charging PMU enables automatic selection between specifications from all three leading standards organizations including the A4WP, PMA and WPC for OEM flexibility. 

Two Bluetooth SoCs, introduced by Broadcom, claim to be cost-effective for OEMs and enhance the consumer experience with home entertainment and mobile computing technology. The BCM20734 and BCM20738 fulfils the demand for smart devices such as remote controls, keyboards and mice in a world with an ubiquitous presence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Lava International has selected Broadcom's quad-core HSPA+ turnkey platform for the recently released QPAD e704 tablet. Comprising a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, RF transceiver, power management IC, connectivity combo chip and multi-constellation GNSS location chip, the Broadcom platform enabled Lava to produce an affordable feature-rich tablet with the advanced connectivity and entertainment capabilities demanded by consumers.

Broadcom has revealed that the company's cost-optimised, low-power BCM2835 applications processor is the technology behind the Droplet Robotic Sprinkler. The world's first cloud-connected robotic sprinkler system, it leverages real-time data from more than 10,000 weather stations, millions of square miles of soil samples and comprehensive plant biological information to make intelligent decisions on when, where and how much water to deliver.

The launch of what is being named as the industry's first six stream 802.11ac MIMO platform for home networks has been announced by Broadcom. The 5G WiFi XStream is up to 50% faster than MU-MIMO routers and gateways, Broadcom claims.

Providing sub-meter accuracy on physical locations, Broadcom's 5G WiFi (802.11ac) SoC is being used to deliver pinpoint indoor positioning technology. The BCM43462 SoC, featuring Broadcom's new AccuLocate technology, enables retailers and public venue operators to deliver more personalized experiences to consumers.

Expanding the company's XLPII multi-core communications processor family, Broadcom has announced the XLP500 series with 32 NXCPUs and performance up to 80Gb/s. According to the manufacturer, the communications processor delivers up to four times the per-core performance of competing processors.

Broadcom has announced an alliance with ShanghaiTech University to enhance WiFi infrastructure in Shanghai and accelerate product development for the rapidly growing IoT market. The Alliance Signing Ceremony was held at the Broadcom Asia Media Summit in Shanghai last week.

Enabling the deployment of cable services to millions of China cable subscribers, Inspur Group has selected Broadcom's BCM7583 HD SoC to power the company's set-top boxes (STBs). The SoC combines cost-effective design and high-performance capabilities, allowing operators to enhance services while reducing overall cost.

Broadcom introduce the next-generation of near field communication (NFC) controllers designed to deliver simplified connectivity and drive adoption in mass market smartphones and wearables. The BCM20795 family enables mobile device manufacturers to reduce antenna size by 50% and lower overall cost by 35%.

Broadcom introduce what they believe to be the industry's first 5G WiFi (802.11ac) 2x2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) SoC for smartphones. The Broadcom BCM4354 SoC will enable manufacturers to deliver twice the WiFi performance of 1x1 MIMO devices used in smartphones today while improving system power efficiency up to 25% when using wireless applications.

Broadcom has completed the sale of certain Ethernet controller-related assets to QLogic for approximately $147m (USD) in cash. The sale includes certain 10/40/100Gb Ethernet controller-related assets and non-exclusive licenses to intellectual property relating primarily to the company's programmable NetXtreme II Ethernet controller family.

Broadcom have announced, what they claim is, the industry's first triple speed 10/40/100G Lite-PHY designed for high-density data center applications. Fabricated in 28nm CMOS technology, the BCM82322 Lite-PHY delivers the industry's highest port count density (12 full duplex ports) and reduces power up to 50%, consuming < 150mW per 10G full duplex port. 

Enabling Quanta Computer to deliver high performance small cell solutions to the world's major network operators and service providers, Broadcom's integrated dual mode small cell SoCs have been selected to power the company's next generation Qcell LTE small cell solutions for enterprise and residential deployments.

The dual-mode TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE SoC, from Broadcom, has been selected by Datang Mobile to develop a new family of enterprise and residential small cell solutions. Broadcom's small cell SoCs provide the architecture for Datang Mobile to meet growing demand for high-performance data services in China and expand deployment of its 4G TD-LTE network while minimizing operation costs.

Broadcom has announced the OpenFlow Data Plane Abstraction (OF-DPA) v1.0 specification, software and API. Broadcom claim that the specification is the industry's first openly published implementation of physical switch hardware pipeline abstraction for the ONF OpenFlow 1.3.1 Switch.
