New motor designs to meet torque loads and size requirements in the rapidly growing robotics industry, have been developed by BEI Kimco. The company recently met demanding Brushless DC (BLDC) Motor needs for use in a multi-axis assembly robot for semiconductor and other light manufacturing applications.

  For some applications, inconsistent motion caused by excessive friction is simply not an option. BEI Kimco has developed a Linear Voice Coil Actuator (VCA) that provides extremely low hysteresis/low friction with precise and consistent bi-directional position control.

BEI Kimco has improved its VCA (Voice Coil Actuator) developer's kit to include three new actuator sizes with greater force and stroke capabilities to provide a broader diversity in off-the-shelf selection (custom kits can also be ordered). These additions round out the Kit selection to a total of six actuators with force performances now ranging from as low as 15.56N to as high as 1,512N and total strokes ranging from 6.35 to 31.7mm.

BEI Kimco Magnetics has announced a small Voice Coil Actuator (VCA) for design engineers. The LAS13-54-001Z Linear Housed VCA features an integrated position sensor and moving magnet design with versatile resolution and force attributes. The VCA offers the advantages of moving magnet technology, which features no moving wires and excellent heat dissipation, while providing moderate speed with controllable, gentle stop points.

BEI Kimco Magnetics has risen to the challenge of meeting the demanding requirements for an ultrasound elastography application using Voice Coil Actuator (VCA) technology. Elastography is a painless and non-invasive medical imaging technique that measures the elasticity of tissue to provide diagnostic information about the presence or status of disease.

To help customers get started with Voice Coil Actuators (VCA) and the sometimes confusing electronics needed for building a system, BEI Kimco Magnetics has introduced the VCA Developer's Kit. Believed to be the first of its kind in the market, the completely self-contained kit includes a VCA with a built-in feedback sensor and a programmable controller with MotionLab Software that runs on the user's local PC.
