The last of the round pounds enters circulation
With the new twelve sided pound coin entering circulation next year, people in the UK will slowly see the disappearance of the round coinage over the next few years. The change in currency will be of particular note to Barnshaws Section Benders, whose work is immortalised on the round pound coin as part of the ‘Bridge Series’ by artist Edwina Ellis.
ArcelorMittal Orbit helter-skelter gives a view of London's landmarks
One of the defining structures of the London 2012 Olympics, the ArcelorMittal Orbit reaches 115m into the London skyline around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Designed by Sir Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, the famous landmark is now incorporating a 584 ft long helter-skelter to provide visitors with a unique view of the capital’s landmarks.
