1U platform features robust security

A 1U rackmount hardware platform, featuring robust security, has been introduced by WIN Enterprises. The PL-80610, designed for network service applications, supports the next generation Intel Atom Processor C2000 product family. Security features include support for Intel AES New Instructions (Intel AES-NI), along with Intel Streaming SIMD Extension (Intel SSE) and Intel QuickAssist Technology, which provide hardware accelerated data encryption and decryption.

Additional processing power for higher layer packet processing is provided by off-loading compute-intensive security tasks. Customers have a choice of three SoCs which provide 1.70, 2.0, and 2.40GHz performance in dual- and quad-core packages. On request, this choice can be expanded to include other Atom C2000 processors. 

Four DDR3 1333/1600MHz unbuffered ECC or non-ECC DIMM sockets, with up to 16GB of memory, are supported by the platform. Along with these, the device also supports 2.5/3.5" SATA 3.0 6Gbps hard drives and CompactFlash. Highlighting the platform's flexibility are its 8GbE to 15GbE Ethernet ports provided via a PCIe on the front-panel. To support a range of expansion modules, the device also features a PCIe X8 slot.

By supporting three segments of LAN bypass function through WDT and GPIO pin definitions, the platform prevents network problems during any unexpected shut downs. The front panel is equipped with dual USB 2.0 ports and a RJ-45 console port alongside LED indicators, allowing for local system management, maintenance and diagnostics.

The PL-80610 is suitable for system integrators, electronic OEMs and software developers that provide networking and network security solutions. Network intrusion prevention and detection, unified threat management, spyware control and content filtering are among the device's typical applications.
