A SATA III, 7-pin SSD, claimed to be both high-performing and cost effective, has been introduced by ADATA Technology. The ISMS312 is a high-speed MLC NAND flash, providing a sequential read/write speed up to 250/40MBps and MTBF of up to 1m hours. Featuring a 1.15W power consumption, the 6Gbps SSD is claimed to extend the life of the devices it supports.

The drive is also suitable for long term use within harsh environments, with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C. Available in both horizontal and vertical pin orientations, the ISMS312 accommodates a variety of system form factors. According to the company, the SSD offers three times the performance, stability, and lifespan to that of a typical MLC. This is claimed to bring the drive closer to SLC grade, however, with an 80% reduction in cost.

The ISMS312 features industrial grade S.M.A.R.T., which automatically detects it's condition to protect data. Wear-levelling is also supported by the SSD, prolonging it's lifespan. The drive, which is provided with the ADATA SSD Toolbox, is available in 8, 16 and 32GB. Suitable applications for the SSD include networking, healthcare, medical devices, surveillance, military and defence, factory automation, IPC and embedded systems.
