The BVM Group is pleased to announce the release of the MPX-2515, a new mini-PCIe card, which provides a CANbus (Controller Area Network) interface from an embedded computer. The MPX-2515 mini-PCIe card implements the ISO-11898 Standard Physical Layer requirements, supporting up to 112 nodes at up to 1Mb/s operation.
While CANbus was originally developed for automobile use, its low cost, robust performance, simple architecture and interconnect requirements has made it an increasingly attractive technology for communicating with sensors, actuators, ECUs and other control devices in industrial, medical, automation and process control systems.

The MPX-2515 provides receive buffers, masks, filters, and data byte filtering and supports one-shot mode. Current draw is typically 1uA in sleep mode, 5mA when active. Power can be supplied from either the USB +5V rail or the 3.3V from the mini-PCIe slot.

It also provides ground fault detection on the TXD input, power-on reset and voltage brown-out protection.

It runs under both the 32 and 64-bit Windows o/s, and optional cables allow it to be connected via a standard USB Type A plug or a USB motherboard header on the host machine if a mini-PCIe slot is not available.
