There is growing use of electronics in aircraft cabins to fulfil passengers’ needs for using their personal electronic equipment, as well as having access to inflight entertainment, passenger comfort systems, such as lighting, HVAC and safety and automatic seat adjustment. All of these amenities create a diversity of challenges for OEMs, when it comes to equipping aircraft interiors with modern electronic and electrical systems.

Enabling state-of-the-art audio and video capabilities, the HSAutoLink media module allows integration of multiple I/O port connection types, such as USB, HDMI, Ethernet, SD memory cards, auxiliary jack inputs and more to meet end-system requirements in either active or passive designs. This is complemented by an extensive range of control electronics and cable assemblies – I/O, fibre optic, ribbon cables and jumpers, power cables, high-speed data and custom solutions.

LED lighting systems significantly enhance lighting control and the quality of the lighting in aircraft cabins compared to traditional light sources. Molex specialises in designing and manufacturing complex LED and printed circuit assemblies, flex foils and LED array holders to provide dependable and efficient custom-lighting solutions with superior electrical performance.

Thomas Heller, Account Manager, Aerospace and Defence, Central European Region, Molex, commented: “Here we see a tendency for aircraft OEMs to reduce their supplier base. Within our vast portfolio of interconnect products and system solutions specifically for the aircraft industry, OEMs can be secure to receive high levels of quality, reliability and service wherever it may be required globally.”
