Mirics, developer of FlexiTV, the world’s first commercial software-based global TV receiver, today announced that FREEVIEW logo approval has been granted for the Mirics MSi3101 DVB-T TV receiver solution in a PC following certification by Digital TV Labs, enabling the mark to be used on personal computers.
This certification is the gold seal for DVB-T reception in the UK digital TV market and will help increase the understanding of consumers and vendors about the capability of PC products containing the Mirics solution.

It follows the certification of Microsoft Windows 7 Media Centre three years ago.

The latest trusted approval will distinguish the PC Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) adopting the mark from the other desktop computers sold in the UK, which don’t have this capability.

This is another important quality milestone for the Mirics FlexiTV solution and means that the Global TV solution, using Mirics’ soft demodulator technology, will be the lowest cost TV solution shipping in a personal computer that is FREEVIEW compliant.

Simon Atkinson, Mirics CEO, said: “This symbolizes a change in the way people are beginning to watch television and is recognition of quality assurance for the Mirics solution.”

Keith Potter, Digital TV Labs CEO added: “We are delighted to see the Mirics technology clear this milestone so that they can continue to enable the home PC to become a compelling and important platform for digital TV in the future.”
