A mini module, claimed to be both cost and energy efficient and thus suitable for industrial control automation, medical equipment, gaming machine, telecomms, POS, kiosk and transportation applications, has been released by DFI. The BT9A3 is powered by the Intel Atom processor E3800 SoC product family, which is primarily aimed at 24 hour operating intelligent systems. These SoCs range from single core, dual core and quad core.

The onboard graphics features one DDI (HDMI/DVI/DP) and one dual channel LVDS display interfaces that support high resolution. Moreover, the advanced Intel HD Graphics integrated in processor brings enhanced stereoscopic 3D capabilities, immersive web browsing and spectacular HD playback; as well as makes this embedded module particularly suitable for graphics-intensive devices.

The BT9A3 is designed with onboard 2/4GB DDR3L and an optional onboard 4/8/16GB eMMC to offer persistent data storage. With memory playing an increasingly important role in today’s industrial applications, the embedded module is particularly designed with ECC support that provides improved data integrity and system reliability through automatic data correction.

A range I/O interfaces also are available on this module to maximise the flexibility and connectivity, including one gigabit LAN, two SATA, nine USB, one LPC, one SMBus, one I2C, two serial, one HDA and three PCIe x1 for additional expansion.Supporting a wide temperature range, from -40 to 85ºC, the BT9A3 can also operate within extreme environments.
