Today Kontron announced the availability of the Kontron KISS 1U Short KTQM67, its latest addition to the Kontron Industrial Silent Server (KISS) family in 1U mini 19 rack format. In comparison to standard rackmount servers, the Kontron industrial rackmount KISS 1U Short KTQM67 offers long-term availability, and a 25% reduced installation depth and offers high packing density and computing performance with 2nd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors. nt.
Developed for high-availability applications with long product lifecycles, the Kontron KISS 1U Short KTQM67 is also equipped with a range of interfaces and customer-specific extension options suitable for the industrial environment.

With integrated Intel HD Graphics with DirectX10.1 and OpenGL 3.0 support, the new Kontron industrial rackmount server KISS 1U Short KTQM67 offers the 2D and 3D graphics performance equivalent to dedicated graphics cards. Even multi-screen applications with simultaneous display of two different HD video streams or innovative 3D applications can run without having to add additional components. With 2x DisplayPort, 1x DVI and LVDS, the new Kontron KISS 1U Short KTQM67 supports industry-relevant monitor standards without additional adapters and costs.
The robust, compact and low-maintenance industrial rackmount server is suitable for demanding application areas such as industrial automation, process control, transportation and building automation. With its quiet operation (approximately 35 dBA) the industrial rackmount server is also suitable for applications in noise-sensitive working environments i.e. control rooms, professional A/V equipment or CAD, QS and video surveillance systems. Furthermore, the integrated Intel Turbo Boost technology 2.0 and Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX) allow applications to benefit from faster floating point operations and vectorial calculations at lowered power consumption. These features also make the server a well-suited fit for image processing in medical technology or for radar and sonar systems.

The feature set in detail
The Kontron industrial rackmount server KISS 1U Short KTQM67 is based on the 2nd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors with up to 3.8 GHz and offers - in combination with the Intel QM67 Controller Hub and a maximum of 32 GB DDR3 RAM - an extremely broad performance range. One PCI Express x16 extension slot for graphics and framegrabber cards allows for customer-specific system designs with standards-based extension cards. The Kontron industrial rackmount KISS 1U Short KTQM67 offers numerous peripherals and networking options via 8x USB 2 (6x rear, 2x front) and 3x GbE-LAN. Due to the Intel AMT 7.0 support the server allows for simplified maintenance, higher availability and lower overall costs. For data storage there is a shock-resistant internal 3.5 slot plus slots accessible from the front for a 3.5 hard disk and a slim DVD drive. Accessing data on the hard disk is extremely fast with the SATA 6Gb/s support. The optional RAID 1 subsystem Kontron KISS Stor Slim with two hot-swap capable 2.5 hard disks offers additional data security. As an alternative to the integrated AC power supply, the server can be connected to industrial and in-vehicle power supplies with 24 VDC.

Kontron's latest industrial rackmount server has an MTBF of >30 000 hours (around 3.4 years of uninterrupted operation) which guarantees high availability parallel to low maintenance costs. The Kontron industrial rackmount server KISS 1U Short KTQM67 is CE certified and UL qualified. It supports Linux as well as Windows operating systems. It can also be ordered as a customer-specific configuration which can be tested and independently certified as a complete solution before shipment. The Kontron KISS 1U Short KTQM67 is now available in EMEA and will be available in America and APAC in Q2 2012.
