Today at InnoTrans Kontron announced the EN50155-compliant 19Kontron railway server MICROSPACE MPCR50R with the low-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7400 (2x 1.5GHz). Features such as its application ready configuration with extended security and monitoring functions make it the perfect choice as a central multi-function server for buses and railway carriages. The Kontron railway server MICROSPACE MPCR50R enables a vast number of functions for management, safety and passenger comfort.
The new Kontron MICROSPACE MPCR50R covers a wide range of application areas ranging from video surveillance of the passenger areas and door safety, to high performance passenger information and infotainment systems which can run on the central server. The user benefits from the built-in, color LCD display which displays safety and system information like voltages, temperatures, errors, operation ledger and RTC battery voltage. The EN50155 CE and E1-certified system, which has an MTBF of 60,000 hours, can be administrated without the need to hook up a separate additional display.

To pave the way for flexible integration into different application scenarios, the Kontron railway server MICROSPACE MPCR50R provides an extensive range of interfaces. Each interface is accessible using robust M12- or DSUB-ports; 3 x USB 2.0, 4 x COM and 1 x Gb Ethernet along with 1x Fast Ethernet, via which the system can be booted, plus four optical and four digital in- and outputs. Displays with resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels (QXGA) can be connected via DVI and VGA.

The system offers a large number of extension options which allow for any add-ons that can be implemented via 2x PCIexpress MiniCards, 1x PCI/104express and 1x PCI ExpressCard. Pre-installed solutions for eight analog camera or alternatively 4x Fast Ethernet for digital cameras are available. Modules for GPS, GSM or WLAN, are also available. Via FPGA and micro controller extensions, customer-specific functions such as RingWake, GSM-Wake, EventWake or WakeOnLAN can be realized. With this extensive portfolio of expansion options, the Kontron railway server MICROSPACE MPCR50R reduces time to market, even in application specific configurations.

For mass storage devices, up to two shock-absorbing, hotplug SATA300 hard disks or SSD disks can be integrated, which is especially beneficial in terms of service and software updates and which shortens MTTR. Further storage media can be connected via slots for CompactFlash and ExpressCards. The RTC battery is monitored and service-friendly and easily accessible on the front panel, reducing the efforts for maintenance and service and improving total cost of ownership.

The robust housing is made of chrome-plated steel and is completely fanless, maintenance free and ideal for extended temperature ranges (with SSD). The power supply is designed for 24-110 VDC and is galvanically isolated against overvoltage of up to 1.5 kV as essential in railway applications. Even if voltage interruptions occur, the system still runs reliably thanks to an optional external 12V battery pack which serves as an uninterruptible power supply.

The new Kontron railway server MICROSPACE MPCR50R can be operated with Windows 7, Vista and XP along with the new Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Linux. Kontron's latest TX-compliant railway system has been certified with EN50155, CE as well as E1 and is currently available in EMEA.
