Today Kontron introduced the PICMG 1.3 System Host Board Kontron PCI-761, a slot card-sized industrial server board which is equipped with the Intel Q57 Express chipset. The new CPU board delivers state-of-the-art server performance with intelligent security features, inexpensive system administration and leading-edge I/O-technology in the smallest possible space.
The long-term available Kontron PCI-761 offers high scalability from the Intel Core i3 processor up to the Intel Core i7 processor with four 3.06 GHz cores and up to 8 GB DDR3-1333 memory for maximum server performance and bandwidth. System designers benefit from the board's extremely high reliability with an MTBF of approximately 100,000 hours, which guarantees high availability and low maintenance costs. Furthermore, Intel AMT and TPM technology provides Intel vPro capable management and security enhancements that simplify administration of systems based on the Kontron PICMG 1.3 System Host Board PCI-761. With Intel AMT 6.0, tasks such as installation and maintenance of operating systems, BIOS configuration and hardware diagnosis can be carried out remotely over the network without the need for additional remote management hardware. With Intel Trusted Execution Technology and the onboard Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) the Kontron PCI-761 provides high system security, for example, due to the hardware encryption of all transmitted data. Target applications for the Kontron PCI-761 include asynchronous realtime applications in measurement and testing equipment or for image processing or process control in market segments such as energy, medical technology, automation, traffic and transportation.

The feature set in detail

With its LGA 1156 socket, Kontron's space-saving and service-friendly System Host Board PCI-761 supports both Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors and the cost-efficient Intel Pentium processors and offers an extensive feature set with 1333 MHz front-side bus, up to 8 GByte of fast DDR3-1066/1333 SDRAM and a wide range of interfaces: 1 x PCIe x16 (PEG), 1 x PCIe x4 (also configurable as 4 x PCIe x1), 4 x PCI to the backplane, 6 x 300Mbps SATA II (2 x via the backplane) with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 functionality, 2 x 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet, 12 x USB 2.0 (4 via the backplane), one parallel and two serial interfaces (1x RS-232/422/485, 1x RS-232) plus HD audio codec. Applications profit from a wide range of extension options available via standard extension cards which can be integrated via flexibly configurable backplanes reducing cabling work. If no high-end PEG graphics are required, the integrated Intel HD Graphics Adapter offers full DirectX 10 support and resolutions of up to QXGA (2560 x 1600) at 75 Hz via the VGA connection. On top of this, a robust, optional USB flash module with up to 8 GByte and an MTBF of 5 million hours enable maintenance-free system design without rotating storage media.
