AAEON has today unveiled a new network appliance based on the Intel Atom D525 processor: FWS-2200. The FWS-2200 is a complete system solution that boosts high performance and efficiency for maximum firewall coverage. The FWS-2200 is a desktop 6-port network appliance with an integrated Intel ICH8M chipset.
The SODIMM socket supports up to 4GB of DDR3 memory in two SODIMMs. In addition, the Intel 82574L Gigabit Ethernet controller offers superb networking connections. This model equips flexible and expandable I/O slots including two USB ports, one DB-9 connector, one DC power input and a software programmable button. Also included is a Mini PCI for additional expansion and provides a 2.5” SATA HDD and CF-SATA slot for ample storage.

“The FWS-2200 has six LAN ports to offer faster and more secure network functions,” says Jill Chu, Product Manager of AAEON’s Industrial Systems Division. “As a desktop platform, its LAN bypass function ensures your network connectivity and prevents network failure. Furthermore, this model can be expanded up to two-pair bypass functions to offer advanced security and sees that the network communication will not be influenced by accidental system shut down. Thus, FWS-2200 is ideal for small and medium enterprises as well as firewall applications,“ added Jill.

The FWS-2200 is a low power consumption network appliance device with high performance bundled with Mini PCI to enable wireless and other expansion module flexibility.
