An ETX 3.0-compliant dual core computer module with up to 1.0GHz clock frequency, the VDX3-ETX has been introduced by ICOP Technology. The DM&P Vortex86 DX3 processor-based ETX CoM can be deploy into all existing ETX-based applications to substitute older x86 processors that are currently being discontinued, securing the field deployment of ISA and PCI bus-based applications for at least another seven years.

The ETX module supports the entire bandwidth of legacy interfaces as defined by the ETX specification including fully compatible ISA and PCI bus, serial interfaces, IDE/PATA interfaces as well as PS/2 for keyboard and mouse. In addition, ICOP Technology extends the functionality of the VDX3-ETX to include ETX 3.0-compliant interfaces for USB and native SATA, so that current state-of-the-art interface options are supported.

Despite its construction for fanless system designs, the ICOP Technology VDX3-ETX module provides powerful graphics and supports a full HD resolution of 1920x1080px at 60Hz. Application fields can be found in digital signage, kiosk and POS/POI systems as well as the transportation sector where, for example, with these ETX modules easy yet powerful upgrades can be carried out on ticketing and vending machine.

For applications such as these in harsh environments, the module also supports extended temperature ranges of -20 to +70°C. More applications can be found in industrial automation and numerous other embedded designs, including real-time applications. In line with the very varied applications, the module supports a wide range of operating systems - from DOS to Windows CE6.0, CE7.0, Windows 7, WES7, Windows XP Professional, Windows Embedded Standard (XPe), POS Ready (WePOS) and Embedded Linux, X-Linux and Linux right up to QNX (BSP), VxWorks (BSP) and FreeBSD.

The robust VDX3-ETX module from ICOP Technology is equipped with the highly-integrated DM&P Vortex86 DX3 SoC processor and provides up to 2GB of RAM and ETX 3.0 compliant interface options, including four USB 2.0 and one SATA port. The graphics support 1920x1080 full HD at 60Hz and two display interfaces are possible. Further interfaces include either VGA and LVDS or dual channel LVDS, ISA and PCI bus for customer-specific extensions, one 10/100Mb Ethernet, optional 1Gb Ethernet, two Serial CoMs, LPT or IDE, HD-Audio and PS/2.
