The MSC Vertriebs GmbH's new COM Express module family MSC CXC-PV525 integrating a power-saving Intel® Atom™ D525 processor with dual core offers a significant performance enhancement compared to single core solutions. Two fast DDR3 SDRAMs (SO-DIMM sockets) with a total capacity of up to 4 GB provide high computing performance and low power consumption. The MSC CXC-PV525 is the first COM Express™ Compact module combining these innovative processor and memory technologies on a form factor of just 95mm x 95mm.
The computer-on-module MSC CXC-PV525 offers an extended input voltage range of +5V to +18V and is best suited for automotive applications. The cost-optimized platform also works in an 5V environment which is not typical for COM Express™ boards. The cost-efficient module family is dedicated for applications demanding medium computing performance, e.g. in industrial automation, medical and measurement systems.

Depending on the customer’s requirements, MSC ships the compact MSC CXC-PV525 COM Express™ platform with different single and dual core processor types. The modules are available with the Intel® Atom™ D525 dual-core processor (1.8 GHz) and the Intel® Atom™ D425 or Intel® Atom™ N455 single-core CPUs. With its thermal dissipation power (TDP) of only 6.5W the N455 processor enables passive cooling solutions and support the Enhanced Intel® Speedstep technology. All variants offer 64-bit support, Intel® Hyper Threading technology and Execute Disable Bit.

The MSC CXC-PV525 platform is based on the Intel® ICH8M IO controller hub. The Graphics Accelerator Generator 3.5 (400MHz or 200MHz) is integrated in the processor and supports DirectX9. The video memory supports Intel®'s Dynamic Video Memory technology.

Besides eight USB 2.0 ports, the COM Express™ modules offer five PCI Express™ x1 lanes, an 32-bit PCI bus, LPC, HD audio and an 10/100/1000Base-TX Ethernet interface. A variety of different displays can be connected via the LCD interface (LVDS 18-bit, single channel) and the CRT port with a maximal resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. The data can be stored via three SATA channels at a data rate of up to 300MB/s, an enhanced IDE port (ATA/UDMA100) or on an optional 4 GB NAND Flash SSD.

The powerful MSC CXC-PV525 platform runs under the operating systems Windows® 7, Windows® XP (embedded), Windows® CE and Linux. For evaluation and design-in MSC supplies universal baseboards. Furthermore MSC offers the design service for application-specific motherboards. Special starter kits for Linux and Windows® CE are available on request.
