AAEON (TAIEX: 2463), a professional Industrial PC (IPC) and network appliance manufacturer, releases a brand new Network Appliance--FWS-2300. The FWS-2300 is a desktop network security solution with four LAN ports. AAEON had previously released a condensed desktop network appliance called the FWS-2150 for general use. However, The FWS-2300 is an advanced model that adopts the Intel platform to provide a secured network solution to customers who require higher needs in network security.
The FWS-2300 features the Intel Pentium M/Celeron M processor (up to 1.8 GHz & BGA/Socket co-lay) and features the Intel 910GMLE + Intel 82801FBM (ICH6M) chipset. This model deploys two 200-pin DDR2 400 SODIMM Socket system memory (up to 2 GB).

“As a higher end network appliance unit, the FWS-2300 provides faster network transmission. Therefore, it accommodates four PCI Gigabit Ethernet ports with 2-port bypass functions. In addition, the FWS-2300 equips one Ultra ATA 100, DOM (up to 2 GB) port, and two SATA I for ample storage, and one CompactFlash Type II for OS and application updates. The Auto range 96W power input is also offered on the FWS-2300,” said CY Juan, Product Manager of Industrial System Division of AAEON Technology Inc. “The FWS-2300 deploys rich I/O interfaces that provide flexible expansions, including four LAN ports, one RS-232 console port, and two USB 2.0 ports. It equips a Mini-PCI Type III socket for even further expansion, “ added CY Juan.

The FWS-2300, a compact desktop 4 LAN port network appliance platform, is designed for entry-level IDS/IPS, firewall, antivirus gateway, and Unified Threat Management (UTM) applications. It not only provides security while the network data transmits, but also reduces time and efforts with the remote control function on the console port.
