IDT has announced the introduction of a jitter attenuator optimized for the Xilinx Virtex-4 family of FPGAs. Designed to support PCI Express (PCIe), this component is said to be the industry’s first timing device capable of attenuating or “cleaning” the jitter from a 100 MHz PCIe input clock, while translating it to a 250 MHz LVDS output.

DT Electronics has made available Exar's family of dual universal asynchronous receiver transmitters (DUARTS) that operate from a 1.62V to 3.63V supply and feature 16, 32 or 64-byte FIFOs. Designated the M-series, each channel of these devices is capable of data rates up to 16 MBps at 3.3V with a 4X sampling clock.

Frontier Silicon has launched a new advanced and highly integrated system-on-chip IC which will enable the next generation of DAB digital radio-based products. The Chorus 2 FS1020 chip is a new programmable DAB baseband receiver providing significant space, cost and power savings on a typical radio or mobile handheld devices. The chip is now in mass production and products using the chip will appear in the market early 2007.

Optimized RF Front-End System Solution  Reduces Size, Cost of Wi-Fi Systems
SiGe Semiconductor has announced the SE2559L, an RF front-end module designed to improve integration and reduce cost of Wi-Fi systems compliant to the 802.11b/g specification. The new RF front-end is based on a highly integrated architecture that is about 60 percent smaller than competitive products. With high feature integration, the SE2559L eliminates several external components, allowing manufacturers to reduce the bill of materials cost for 802.11b/g functionality by about 15 percent. The small size and low cost makes the SE2559L ideal for access points, laptops, PC cards and embedded Wi-Fi applications.

Texas Instruments has announced the TLK2711HFGQMLV 1.6 to 2.7 Gigabits per Second Serializer/Deserializer. A member of the WizardLink family of multigigabit transceivers, the device is qualified to MIL-PRF-38535 (QML) Class V and is designed to support serial interface in high speed data bus applications for aerospace equipment, such as satellites.

STMicroelectronics has announced that it is sampling a new digital AM/FM radio receiver chipset for use in automotive applications. Sophisticated digital signal processing techniques allow the chipset to feature excellent reception quality while reducing interference even in presence of challenging signal conditions such as weak field and strong multipath (reflection from mountains and buildings).

Melexis has entered the market for accurate GPS position sensing with its angular rate sensor or gyroscope. The MLX90609-N2 will enhance the accuracy of GPS instruments in situations where satellite reception is lost, for example in tunnels, between tall buildings and mountainous terrain.
