Designed specifically for the hostile environment of railway and transportation applications, Veam VBN circular connectors from ITT Interconnect Solutions (ITT ICS) feature lightweight, high strength aluminium shells with protective platings, making the devices highly corrosion resistant. A 1/3 turn bayonet coupling mechanism allows for fast, reliable mating and unmating.
Highly shock and vibration resistant, the components are completely intermateable with VG95234 connectors, conform to the mass transit specification NF F 61-030 (resistance to fuel oils, solvents and elevated temperatures) and have been approved and qualified by SNCF.

Utilising flame retardant UL94V-0 thermoplastic inserts, the connectors benefit from a removable insert retaining ring allowing for field polarization changes and a pin insert interfacial seal for environmental sealing when mated and improved electrical creepage distance. All contacts are very easy to insert and extract. VBN connectors enable efficient field harness to address assembly challenges and reduce train maintenance time.

Electrical performance is 3250 VAC RMS in mated condition. Maximum rated current at 20deg.C single contact in isolation) is 22A for AWG 16, 41A for AWG 12 and 73A for AWG 8 contact sizes.

VBN connectors have been designed for 2000 coupling cycles and are available in a wide variety of styles and shell sizes. Several different types of backshells and strain reliefs offer flexibility with many types of cables.
