Byte Paradigm has released two new versions of SPI Storm - SPI Host Adapter that supports, SPI, Quad-SPI and custom serial protocols in the same USB device. SPI Storm 50 and SPI Storm 10 support serial protocols as master up to 50 MHz and 10 MHz, at entry-level prices of 399,00 EUR (530 USD) and 299,00 EUR (400 USD) respectively. SPI Storm 10 features a 8 MB memory, while the higher end devices are equipped with a total 32 MB memory.
''Not everybody uses protocols at 100 MHz', Frederic Leens, Sales Manager at Byte Paradigm says. 'Nevertheless, for such lower speed applications, there is a demand for fine-tuning the communication protocols at clock cycle level. Large program memory, building up sequences from the GUI and a C/C++ API and zero command-to-command latencies are also much appreciated features at any speed. SPI Storm series devices combine unique sets of features -now at a very competitive price.'

SPI Storm Series devices target embedded system engineers with a need to access, communicate and program their digital board, digital IC - like FPGA, flash memories, ASIC and SoC. 'We are proud of our unique custom protocol definition engine. With it, you can support virtually any serial slave protocol', Frederic concludes.

SPI Storm 10 notably targets engineering schools and universities: it is a flexible, all-around access device for hands-on with digital electronics. The 50 MHz and 100 MHz versions cover many mid- and high-end testing and debugging scenarios for industries ranging from telecommunications to medical electronics and digital imaging.
