Within the CmX range of servo motor connectors from ITT Cannon new Cm5 connectors feature the highest maximum current of 40A for motor flanges of up to 150x150mm. Designed as a replacement for two circular connectors, Cm5 series connectors benefit from a minimum size package and can be installed simply and at low cost. Compared to conventional circular connectors, the devices feature 50% less weight and require only half the length to house the same components. The low profile design makes the devices ideal for small servo motors requiring higher power in applications where space is at a premium such as industrial motion control, robotics, factory automation and material handling.
Benefiting from only one housing, Cm5 connectors use a 4-way (3 phase + 1 ground) power connector plus a signal connector offering several configuration options: 4-way sensor and brake or 18 or 24 –way signal. Cm5 devices offer a maximum current of 40A at 80 degrees Celsius and a maximum voltage of 630VAC for the power connectors with a maximum cable diameter of 19mm for the power and 11mm for the signal cables. The signal connectors feature a maximum current of 3A at 80 degrees Celsius and a maximum voltage of 48VAC.

Cm5 connectors benefit from crimp contacts, excellent vibration resistance and are completely shielded and sealed, including two sealed entries for power and signal cables. Further technical details of the components include a contact resistance of less than 5mOhm for the power connectors and less than 10mOhm for the signal connectors, an insulation resistance of more than 5000MOhm, an operating temperature range of -40 up to +125 degrees Celsius and an IP rating of IP65 or IP67.
