In order to help equipment manufacturers meet eco-friendly requirements, Anderson Power Products have announced that the Saf-D-Grid Ultra Short Receptacle connectors are now being manufactured in a halogen free, high temperature housing material. The company believe that Saf-D-Grid is the only connector system so sized that is UL rated for safe disconnect of a 400V DC, 20A load.

A 25A 600V capable DC connector system, Saf-D-Grid is size compatible with the IEC 320 C13 and C14 AC standard panel cut out. Additionally, it minimises space requirements within the device and allows solder termination to wires. By offering a safe power interconnect for power supplies, power distribution units, and peripheral devices, the halogen free connectors provide a critical link in the broad scale adoption of 380V DC power distribution systems.

Anderson Power Products believe that the Saf-D-Grid is also the only connector with “Registered Product” status for the EMerge Alliance standard for 380V (±190) DC power distribution systems for use in data centers and telecom central offices.

When compared to best in class AC systems, the halogen free Saf-D-Grid Ultra Short Receptacle offers a variety of benefits for a 380V DC power distribution architecture, including: improving reliability by 2-10 times; improving efficiency by 7-15%; using 10-33% less space; reducing maintenance by up to 30%; lowering CAPEX equipment costs by 6-10%; and simplifying the integration of on-site energy generation and storage.
