Teledyne Reynolds Inc. announces the launch of the Hyperion Series of connector which incorporate broadband fiber optic transceivers in their design. Since the Hyperion connectors are designed to transmit fiber optic signals through standard, 16 AWG, MIL-PRF-29504/4 and /5 compliant termini, they can be offered in any version of a MIL-DTL-38999 connector that has a minimum of two 16 AWG cavities.
/> The unused cavities are available for low bandwidth electrical signal contacts and/or high power electrical contacts. The ruggedized transceivers are compatible with 50 or 62.5 µm multimode fibers and are suitable for communication with Fiber Channel (1GFC, 2GFC, 4GFC), Fast Ethernet (100 Base-SX) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Base-SX) protocols. The Hyperion’s operating temperature range and respective data rates are -40 to +95 degrees C (5.25 Gbps) and -55 to +95 degrees C (2.1 Gbps), with a high level of environmental protection.
