JAE is rolling out robust connectors supporting advanced PC interfaces, to allow seamless connection of industrial and embedded PCs into desktop environments. Standards supported include PCI Express, DVI, SD Card, Media Bay and others, featuring tough construction and durable latching mechanisms to withstand harsh usage on factory floors, industrial sites, and in the field.
John Islam, European Marketing Manager, JAE Europe, said, “Sharing information between PCs drives up productivity, but the benefits tend to stop at the office door. There is now high demand, from industry, to couple factory floors and field sites more tightly into the enterprise IT strategy. Our new range of tough connectors supporting the latest connectivity standards provides the physical means to achieve this.”

The WB3 series is the first of JAE’s new PC connectors for harsh environments, and supports PCI Express up to x16 lane widths, the widest currently included in the initial PCI Express specifications and capable of encoded data rates up to 80 Gbps. Suitable for operating temperatures from –40 ºC to +85 ºC, rated for 0.5A per pin, and featuring a robust contact construction and metal shells for plug and receptacle, the WB3 series allows future industrial and embedded PCs to adopt the latest high-speed point-to-point serial bus design. Meeting the required transmission characteristics of PCI Express, including –32dB maximum crosstalk and less than 1dB insertion loss at 1.25 GHz, the WB3 series connectors offer 200 positions on 0.5mm pitch, incorporate EMI shielding, and also support board to board connection. Stacking heights of 4mm or 5mm are available.

By fulfilling all the electrical and mechanical requirements for PCI Express, the WB3 series supports very high bandwidth per I/O connector pin as well as the wider benefits of PCI Express including guaranteed bandwidth delivery when required, advanced power management, and native hot plug/hot swap support. WB3 connectors can also be used for transmission of other signal types including TMDS, VGA and others.
