Fairview Microwave has introduced a family of low profile right angle high performance flexible cable assemblies. This release consists of 16 unique assemblies covering a frequency range from DC to 26.5GHz for the SMA versions and DC to 18GHz for the Type-N and TNC terminated cables.

Fairview Microwave’s latest cable assemblies provide a flexible coax alternative to 0.086 and 0.141" diameter semi-rigid cable assemblies. These assemblies offer space saving, internally swept right angle SMA and Type-N connectors with low profile designs. They are commonly used where other types of straight or larger profile right angle connector designs would not work, such as system applications where flexibility is needed when routing cables in tight enclosures, test racks or inside cabinets.

The latest high performance cable assemblies boast right angle connectors that have excellent VSWR (1.25:1 typical) and low insertion loss. These coaxial cables incorporate a double shielded wire braid over foil tape construction, resulting in high isolation in excess of 90dB, while a solid PTFE dielectric offers phase velocity of 69.5%. Additional benefits of Fairview’s cable assemblies include an operating temperature range from -40 to +150°C and stainless steel connectors with a minimum lifespan of 500 mating cycles.

“Fairview’s new low profile, high performance flexible cables offer system and equipment designers a new cable solution that will fit in tight places while maintaining the electrical performance they require,” explains Brian McCutcheon, Vice President and General Manager, Fairview Microwave. “The unique low profile right angle Type N and SMA deigns offer excellent VSWR and insertion loss along with the RF shielding required for dense RF cabling applications.”
