Rated for up to 200A/contact per UL & CSA criteria, the BarKlip I/O connector has been released by FCI. According to the company, the connector provides improved electrical performance and long-term reliability compared with competing designs. The floating panel mount connector has an installed height of less than 34mm, making it suitable for use in 1U rack-mounted equipment commonly found in data centres and hyperscale computing architectures.

To achieve a direct pluggable connection to an uninsulated busbar, the BarKlip is designed to connect to a system rack bar. Generating low energy loss, the connection has a maximum resistance of only 0.2mΩ per contact. To provide compliant spring to adjust for variations in busbar alignment and surface finish, the BarKlip features 14 fully independent cantilevered beams.

To allow users to meet their the wire gauge and length requirements, the connector is available in a 14-2AWG wire range. The BarKlip I/O Connector is designed to operate between -40 and 125°C.

“The BarKlip I/O Connector provides a convenient, low voltage loss and highly reliable method to connect to many of FCI’s busbar power distribution solutions” says Michael Blanchfield, Portfolio Director for Power Solutions at FCI. “FCI’s proprietary plating technology adds an additional benefit to customers by providing maximum conductivity and longer-term reliability without concerns for corrosion. We are confident the BarKlip products will meet many of our customers’ demands for high reliability in direct connect busbar applications.”
