It has been announced that Hirose has developed a compact Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) connector with a single action lock designed for automatic assembly. In addition to simplifying assembly, the FH62 Series FPC connector also simplifies the design process.

Supporting USB 3.0, Embedded DisplayPort ver1.3 and MIPI D-PHY ver1.1 standards, the compact FH62 Series FPC connector saves PCB space, vital in portable electronic applications. With a 0.25mm pitch, 1.1mm height and a width of 4.0mm, the connector enables a reduction in size of consumer, medical, point-of-sale and other electronic devices.

The FH62 Series has a design that offers impedance characteristics and high speed data transmission. The FPC connector design has a low-insertion force and a high retention force for easy single action insertion. The rugged single action lock design provides the reliability required in demanding portable electronic devices that regularly experience shock and vibration. The user-friendly connector also has wide guides for smooth FPC insertion.

Bill Kysiak, Product Marketing Manager for Hirose Electric USA, stated: "Hirose continues to develop new and unique flexible printed circuit connectors designed to meet a wide range of application requirements. The single-action lock found in the FH62 Series eliminates the risk of latch damage during the assembly process and greatly improves assembly time."

The FH62 Series is available in a 35-position version that is halogen-free and RoHS compliant.
