Featuring an adapter glued to the FFC/FPC, the HF512S high speed connector series expands the Non-ZIF connector family and extends Yamaichi's FFC/FPC connector offering. The addition of the HF512S to the Non-ZIF connector family primarily means quick, reliable assembly of the FFC/FPC without opening/closing a flap or drawer as conventional zero-force connectors require.

The adapter glued to the FFC/FPC ensures the safe handling of the FFC, because the FFC is inserted into the connector with the adapter. This makes it impossible to insert at an angle, mistake the polarity, or damage the FFC/FPC contact pad. The adapter engages audibly and perceptibly into the connector housing, locking the board side to the cable side. Pulling the FFC out is possible after pressing the adapter. That permits high extraction forces to be guaranteed, resulting in a very secure connection.

The contacts on the socket side are designed as such to enable the connector to achieve high-speed signals of up to 5Gbps. Featuring a variety of pin versions with 40, 50, 60, and 64 pins, the contacts are gold-plated and can be soldered using the SMT reflow process. The 180° connector has a working temperature range of -40° to +85°C.

The cable side is offered by Yamaichi as a complete assembly. This allows the customer to choose between a YFLEX cable for high-speed applications and an FFC for standard applications. Additionally, tape & reel packaging is used. the connectors have been designed for applications in areas such as medical technology, industry, and even in the consumer sector.
