With the addition of cable management solutions from recognised brand, Wiska, the components division of Optimas has boosted its portfolio. The new ranges constitute a variety of cable glands and enclosures, which are available in a number of configurations to provide versatility to end users. The first selection of cable glands to be added to the Optimas range is the Wiska Vented Cable Gland range.

The design features ingress protection up to IP68 and IP69K while also incorporating a pressure equalising venting membrane which helps to avoid condensation. This removes the need for a second venting component and speeds up installation due to reduced assembly times. To allow true flexibility, the range includes application specific membranes with different air flow rates and robust properties such as resistance to UV, salt water and aggressive chemicals.

The vented cable glands are available with thread sizes from M12 to M63 and can accommodate cables ranging from 4.5-28mm (48mm for brass) in diameter; with material options including plastic, nylon, nickel plated brass and stainless steel. This range of specification makes the gland suitable for use in marine, lighting, CCTV and general industrial applications. In all cases, the Wiska Vented Cable Gland provides an innovative, compact solution that combines ingress and condensate protection at a competitive cost point. The end result is that the reliability of associated electrical equipment is increased.

Completing the new Wiska cable gland range is the stainless-steel HAT Gland, a high-performance gland squarely aimed at supporting electrical applications in hygienic environments. This capability is illustrated by the option of IP68 and IP69K ingress protection delivered by its silicone seal, which ensures that water and dust cannot compromise the integrity of secured equipment. The smooth design offers easy cleaning, while an inherently low profile provides minimal surface area for contaminates to stick to. Stainless steel construction also provides increased corrosion and chemical resistance. These features are of particular advantage in applications where high pressure washdowns are required, such as on food processing lines or in laboratories.

The capabilities of the HAT Gland range ensure that it is suited for use in demanding sectors such as medical, food processing, chemical processing, automotive, transport and general industrial. To facilitate some of the more demanding environments found in these industries, cable glands can be specified that perform in temperatures ranging from -40 to 180°C.

A further addition from Optimas is the Wiska Combi Box range of enclosures. These offer a cost-effective and intuitive solution for safely housing electrical equipment. Available in IP66 or IP67 protection ratings, the Combi Box can be specified with or without a terminal block depending on requirement. As well as high ingress protection, the Combi Box is also weather and UV resistant, which ensures that the box is suitable for outdoor applications.

The design of the Combi Box increases the ease of use, providing end users with several novel features. First, enclosure entries feature a fully integrated sealing membrane, which, coupled with an easy-to-use attachment system, ensures easy cable entry with full protection. Internal capacity is boosted by an integrated bellied lid, allowing increased space for terminals and cables. A quarter turn lid locking system adds increased security and further ease of access. Such features make the Combi Box suitable for outdoor or indoor lighting and electrical applications.

All products available from Optimas, including the new Wiska range, are available on short lead times in almost any quantity. Optimas is experienced in supplying high quality parts to businesses across the engineering spectrum, so customers can be sure of an efficient service and a highly suitable product.
