Astute Electronics is launching a new EMI filter technology through its newly-launched franchised electro-mechanical component distribution division. The silicone rubber filters can be designed-in or retrofitted into existing connectors very simply, even in the field, providing an effective EMC solution that will survive extreme environmental abuse.

The EESeal FilterSeals are supplied by Quell – a 20 year old company based in Albuquerque, USA. The inserts are easily and quickly inserted into standard connector bodies, without the need for any special tooling, forming an effective EMI filter and environmental seal.

The EMI inserts can be custom-manufactured in as little as seven days and will fit into many different hi-rel connector formats including MIL-C-38999, MIL-C-26482, MIL-C-5015, MIL-C-83723, ARINC, Eurofighter, Lemo, MDM, D-subminiature, Micro D- subminiature, DIN and custom connectors too.

UNtefr the terms of irts agreement with Quell, Astute will distribute the filters in all European countries except Germany as well as Asia/Pacific and India.

Gary Evans, Astute Electronics’ E-MECH Divisional Manager is excited about the Quell products: “We had a push day on the filters and received 80 firm enquiries,” he commented. “The EESeal EMI Filter inserts for connectors are an easy and simple solution compared to bulky adapters, filtered connectors, and other traditional EMI filters. They are smaller, lighter and cheaper…and they are available on a very fast turn-around, slashing TTM.”

Evans says the Astute can supply samples within two days and customised parts can be supplied in less than a week.
