Yamaichi has developed a CFP2 56Gbps host and plug connector system for analogue coherent optics modules or CFP2 modules requiring reliable high-speed performance. This connector system is able to support applications using 25Gb/s x 10 channels or 50Gb/s x 4 channels.

Yamaichi Electronics is listed as an official supplier reviewing company within CFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). Yamaichi already launched a complete range of CFP, CFP2, CFP4 and CFP8 connector systems all following to MSA specification, and supporting major customers’ 100G components. This CFP2 56Gb/s connector is also fully designed in accordance with the MSA specification.

Comparing to general CFP2 28Gb/s connectors, both insertion loss and return loss of the CFP2 56G connector are better by approximately 2db. At 28GHz, the insertion loss of CFP2 28Gb/s connector is -4.5dB whereas the CFP2 56Gb/s connector has only -2dB. S-parameter and all measurement reports such as insertion loss, return loss, and cross talk can be provided on request.

Mechanical features are compatible with the CFP2 28Gb/s connector. Therefore the CFP2 28Gb/s and 56Gb/s connectors are mating-compatible. The mechanical kit of CFP2 28Gb/s includes cage, connector cover, heatsink, and clip. They are applicable to be used with the CFP2 56Gb/s connector.

After launching this connector, Yamaichi Electronics is now preparing to bring the CFP8 connector system for 400G applications to the market.
