PoE add-on board enhances Rasberry Pi B+

Hotly anticipated is how Farnell element14 describes the Power over Ethernet Hat for the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. This new HAT, announced at the launch of the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, enables a Raspberry Pi to be powered via an Ethernet cable, removing the need for a separate power supply.

Power over Ethernet was one of Farnell element14 customer’s top four asks of the latest offering from Raspberry Pi, which delivers increased performance and addressed the needs of the growing professional design market using the board as an embedded device. The official Raspberry Pi PoE HAT is an ideal solution for embedded and IoT projects and further enhances the capabilities of this board.

Key features include:

  • Power over Ethernet 802.3af compliant
  • Power over Ethernet Boot (PXE Boot)
  • Class 2 device
  • Fully isolate Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS)
  • 36-56V Input Voltage
  • 5V Output Voltage
  • Supplies up to 2.5A
  • Fan Control
  • Plug-and-play compatibility with Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+

The Raspberry Pi PoE Hat is suitable for use with the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and requires an 802.3af compliant POE injector, switch, or router device which is not included.

The Official Raspberry Pi PoE HAT is available from Farnell element14 in EMEA, Newark element14 in North America and element14 in APAC.
