Based on the latest 4th generation Intel Core processor family (the mobile-based Intel QM87 Express chipset which offers a 5-15% CPU performance increase over previous generations), the HM920-QM87 is a COM Express basic module from DFI. It is built on 22nm process technology to give higher processing performance, superior graphics display support, and improvements in system memory and I/O interfaces.

By integrating the 4th generation Intel HD Graphics engine, DFI has enabled smooth flash playback and rich 2D/3D graphics with high quality playback. The Intel HD Graphics engine also includes Intel Clear Video Technology which supports advanced imaging capabilities for Blu-Ray and other high definition video processing including image stabilization, gamut mapping and frame rate conversion. The instructions of Intel Advanced Vector Extensions have also been enhanced. This provides a significant performance improvement in floating-point-intensive computations which are a key part of digital signal and image processing applications such as medical imaging and weather radar. The integrated Intel graphics accelerator also offers one VGA and one LVDS display interface.

The HM920-QM87 features two DDR3L SODIMM sockets delivering maximum performance up to 16GB. Offering persistent data storage, the optional onboard SSD is a lot faster than conventional rotating hard disks. The mobile embedded module board is suitable for a whole range of applications requiring a stable revision-controlled platform, including factory automation, digital signage, medical equipment and kiosk embedded applications.

The board also features flexible, high performance I/O, including: four Serial ATA interfaces supporting RAID 0/1/5/10; one Intel Gigabit Ethernet Phy interface with iAMT9.0; eight USB interface; one LPC interface; one SMBus inteface; one I2C interface; and one IDE interface. The HM920-QM87 also comes with multiple expansion configurations, including: one PCIe x16; six PCIe x1; and four PCI interfaces.
