The use of products in explosive areas is highly regulated by standards and guidelines. In June of this year the new standard, EN 600079:0 (2009), was implemented and replaced the previous 2006 version. For this reason we have brought some of the most important items in our range up-to-date.
The cable gland section, including the AlphaX, GammaX and DeltaX products, has been approved by the new ATEX standard for explosion-proof products and will obtain IECEx and GOST certificates by the end of 2012.

This makes RST one of the first manufacturers in the market with the updated certificates. Accessories to the product line, for example screw plugs and adaptors, have also been given international approval under EN600079:0 (2009). Many industries, for example mechanical engineering, plant construction, petrochemicals as well as motor and drive engineering benefit from this speedy adaption to standard-compliance. It is also interesting for customers in the mining industry because the DeltaX has been approved for Category 1 (mines susceptible to firedamp).

Another advantage is that all armoured cables (SWA, SWB, STA) can be mounted with just one gland. Which means it does not matter if cable has SWA or SWB armouring. Furthermore glands from the DeltaX and GammaX series can be dismounted easily and in a controlled manner. The design of the grounding and sealing inserts ensures that the spare parts cannot be lost during installation.
