Untangle’s robust network software platform supports a comprehensive suite of Internet security applications that protect networks from threats and enable sophisticated management and reporting. The commercial-grade open-source based software platform enables the SMB market to cost effectively leverage over 20 application modules that support blocking spam, spyware, viruses, adware and unwanted content on the network. With support from Interface Masters Niagara 32265 Gigabit Failover NIC, Untangles 7.2 software release will ensure that, in the case of a software crash or power outage, the network integrity will be preserved.

The Niagara 32265 is designed for high-availability, monitoring and IT security server applications that demand premium performance and maximum uptime. The Niagara 32265 is a low-cost, low power, fully Linux compatible Dual Port Copper GbE Server Adapter, based on latest generation Ethernet controller technology from Intel. Niagara 32265 includes bypass relays to maintain uptime during power-outage, link-loss or software crash. The bypass feature operates by activating a mechanical switch (even in the absence of power) to enable network traffic to continue by re-routing traffic from the transmitting port directly to the receiving port. This creates a closed loop that bypasses the down appliance, ensuring that network uptime is maintained.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Interface Masters to support their leading edge network failover adapter technology for mission critical Untangle installations,” says Dirk Morris, VP, Products at Untangle. “We strongly believe that the Untangle platform in conjunction with Interface Masters’ Niagara 32265 introduces a compelling offering that ensures optimal security and uptime for the SMB market.”

The Niagara 32265 provides flexible and robust networking options to the mission-critical IT security market by leveraging the latest Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller technology, the Intel 82576 Ethernet controller. Intel’s 82576 chipset enhances 32265 by providing PCI Express 2.0 (2.5Gb/s) support, 10/100/1000 Based-T auto-negotiation capabilities, low power 2.8W operation, 16 Tx and 16 Rx Queues per port, enhanced virtualization, layer 2 & 3 security including IPSec & LinkSec, and Intel I/OAT Acceleration v3.0.

The Niagara 32265 belongs to a gigabit bypass server adapter family which includes the Niagara 32264 and Niagara 32266 which are 4 port and 6 port bypass NICs respectively. In addition, the Niagara 2285 and Niagara 2284 are 2 port and 4 port fiber bypass adapters respectively with support for Multi Mode fiber and Single Mode Fiber.

“Interface Masters is pleased to support Untangle in releasing the 7.2 Multi-Function Firewall software with built-in support for network failover to ensure maximized network uptime for their extensive SMB customer base,” states Aaron Nankin, Sales & Marketing Manager of Interface Masters Technologies. “Niagara 32265 Gigabit Bypass NICs will enable Untangle to support current SMB customers and expand to appeal to new customer markets that look to ensure that all points of failure on the network are secured and protected.”
