TRaC has continued its expansion into the health care market with two of its senior management team securing chairmanships within the ZigBee Alliance and Continua Health Alliance. In the first of the new appointments, TRaC director Paul Russell takes the position of chair of the ZigBee Alliance Health Care Marketing Group where he will have control of the marketing of all ZigBee health care activity. His aim is to publicise ZigBee as a viable fit-for-purpose technology within the health care industry and drive adoption within the medical device market.
TRaC’s operations manager Jon Harros has also been appointed as chair of the Continua Health Alliance’s Continua Certified Experts working group; a team of five global experts in the Alliance’s end-to-end technology health networks. Jon is tasked with raising awareness of the CCE group’s work within Continua and across the wider medical industry through increased marketing activity including webinars and social media interaction.

Paul Russell, director at TRaC Global, commented: “Rapid developments in the medical industry have resulted in an increasing need for technology, particularly in terms of wireless connectivity.”

TRaC is a leading provider of testing, consultancy, certification and global approval services for medical devices and associated health care equipment. It is the only test house in the world to be approved by the Continua Health Alliance, ZigBee Alliance and Bluetooth Special Interest Group – the industry bodies promoting the leading technologies employed in medical device communication.

Jon Harros, operations manager at TRaC Global, added: “The healthcare industry is changing at such a rate that we as testing experts have a responsibility to provide fast, accurate and reliable testing – and that is something we are trying to lead by example with at TRaC.”

As an integral part in Continua’s Certification program, TRaC performs testing and certification on health care, fitness and medical devices to ensure devices which display the Continua logo meet the requirements of the Continua Design Guidelines. It is also a ZigBee Alliance recognised test house and has a high level of protocol experience having contributed to the development of a number of ZigBee’s standards over the past five years.

Paul added: “Our continued membership, and our recent chairmanships, to both the ZigBee Alliance and the Continua Health Alliance places us at the centre of this fast-paced environment and in a prime position to raise standards and influence the industry.”
