Paul Edwards, Battery Sales Manager at Steatite Ltd has recently completed a 5-day charity cycle ride covering over 400 miles. The cyclists collectively managed to raise £72,000 for successfully completing the ride; ‘Pedalling Paul’ – as goes his nickname – was raising money for Rowans Hospice and Cancer Research. He has since returned to work with a gleaming sense of achievement and received a warm welcome from his fellow colleagues.
As well as an expert in his field of work Paul is an avid cyclist. He has supported a number of charities in the past by powering through similar cycle rides. But they have nothing on the mammoth 5-day trek from Paris to Hayling. Sadly, Paul was unable to call upon his in-depth knowledge of power solutions to aid his cycling efficiency; he relied instead on pedal power to make it through his demanding journey.

“It was a ride that took my breath away (literally)” wrote Paul after completing the ride. He maintains a Blog (http://pedallingpaul.wordpress.com/), which included details of his preparation for the event and daily updates during the ride. Paul’s drive and determination resonated in every Blog post; and whilst in severe pain with just over 100 miles to go, he dug deep and managed to find the power and determination to carry himself though to the end.

Paul Edwards’ day job is as the batteries manager for Steatite Batteries. The company is a supplier of lithium batteries, NiHM batteries, sealed lead acid as well as alkaline professional batteries. The company’s real expertise is in the supply of custom battery packs.
