SiTel Semiconductor has announced that all it’s facilities worldwide have successfully received ISO 9001:2008 certification. It is the first fabless semiconductor company in the Netherlands to be certified compliant with this latest revision to the internationally renowned Management System standard.

Released towards the end of last year, ISO 9001: 2008 is the fourth release of the standard. Unlike the 2000 revision there are no fundamental changes to this version. Instead the 2008 revision represents more of a fine-tuning with clarifications to the existing ISO 9001:2000 requirements based on user experience over the last eight years. There have been a number of changes however, specifically to improve consistency and compatibility with the ISO 14001:2004 standard for environmental management systems.

“Operating within a quality management system that helps ensure customer satisfaction has been a key foundation for SiTel,” said Frank van den Dungen, Quality Manager at SiTel. “By continually pushing for excellence in this area means we can comfortably meet the new requirements of ISO 9001: 2008. The improved consistency with ISO 14001:2004 assures our customers that all our products and services are also environmentally sustainable.”

To achieve certification, the company and must be audited by a third-party registrar. SiTel’s audit was carried out by KEMA, the internationally recognized Dutch consultancy and certification organization.
