SILICA World Cup competition ready to kick off

SILICA is giving you the chance to match your World Cup wits against work colleagues, friends, relatives. The semiconductor component distributor has launched an advanced football prediction game called SILICA YOUnited dedicated to the World Cup, which in case you hadn’t noticed starts tomorrow (June 12). SILICA YOUnited is supported by some of SILICA's leading semiconductor partners especially from Micron, Renesas, ROHM and STMicroelectronics.

Entrants will be asked to predict the results of each game with top points being awarded for a correct score. The prediction leagues, which users can create for their own department or company or group of friends, will bring electronic components industry, engineers and buyers, together in friendly competition to discover who is best at forecasting the results and predicting the final destiny of the 32 teams.

The Champion Predictor and World Champion of SILICA YOUnited will win the top prize of a trip to Brazil, the host of the World Cup Finals, as well as the Copacabana Beach, the Sugar Loaf Mountain, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado mountain and, of course the iconic Maracana Stadium. Other prizes include a Philips ultra slim TV, iPad mini, WEBER electro grill, replica football jerseys and replica match balls.

Silica YOUnited will keep all competitors up to date with all the news from the competitions and stories from the tournament’s rich history. SILICA YOUnited will also supply important statistics to help players with their predictions, the latest scores and a live ticker.

Interactive features will include a World Cup quiz to discover who knows the most about the world’s most famous sporting event and user galleries. Visitors to SILICA YOUnited can also create their own individual football photo.

Entry to all the competitions is free and SILICA YOUnited will be donating 1Euro per user to UNICEF.
