Renesas Technology provides microcontroller starter kits to the University of Strathclyde
Renesas Technology Europe today announced that it is supporting microcontroller tutorials at the University of Strathclyde with the donation of 70 x M16C/62P Renesas Starter Kits (RSK) to the University’s Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE). Renesas is also providing technical support training as part of the agreement.
Professor Scott MacGregor, Head, Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering said, “We are delighted that Renesas Technology has donated these development kits to the department. Our courses cover many aspects of current microcontroller design techniques so it is important that the students have up to date development platforms to work on, just like they might find in industry.”

Renesas are making this donation as part of their Renesas University Programme. Under this worldwide initiative, students and teaching staff of leading engineering schools receive access to products, application notes, course material and software. Additionally, Renesas offers academic staff support in publishing articles and writing books that cover Renesas products. Matthew Trowbridge, CEO, Renesas Technology Europe comments, “We are pleased to support the University of Strathclyde with the supply of these RSKs, bringing the total number of European universities we are supporting under this programme to 30. We consider this investment vital to ensure that Renesas’ modern architectures, leading edge microcontroller products and professional tools are available to electronics engineering students and academic staff alike. With this approach we are also investing in the industry by ensuring students have up to date knowledge and development skills as they commence their careers.”
