To support the growing adoption of mobile technology in education, Lantronix has launched a programme to help schools and universities optimise their investment in today’s digital classrooms. The Print and Learn (PAL) Programme, which is sponsored by the National Parent Teacher Organisation (PTO), closes the loop on the missing link for students and teachers who need to print from their mobile devices.

Although classrooms are now digital, there remains a strong need for students and teachers to be able to print a variety of items – from homework to tests to lesson plans. However, with software downloads and kludgy apps which may or may not be effective, printing from mobile devices can be a challenge. As well as this, many schools do not have the resources to spend tens of thousands to buy new printers with built-in mobile printing capabilities.

To help schools maximise their existing resources, the PAL programme consists of product discounts, idea sharing on social media, professional services and a year-long photo contest. The product discounts include 20% off a Lantronix xPrintServer, a hardware solution designed to make printing from mobile devices fast and hassle-free.Three versions of the xPrintServer are available: the Home and Office Editions, which are compatible with iPads and other Apple iOS devices, and the Cloud Print Edition, which is compatible with Android devices, Chromebooks and other devices running Google’s Chrome browser. Each version of the xPrintServer allows users to print to thousands of models of USB or network-connected printers, whether wired or wireless, without any software to download.

“Technology-based instruction is an essential component of effectively preparing students for the future,” said Tina Riccio, Classroom Consultant for the Parent Teacher Organisation. “It’s crucial to have leaders in technology step up and support educational endeavors. We applaud Lantronix for creating the PAL Programme and taking an active role to deliver tangible benefits to the emerging digital classroom. Our organisation is happy to be an inaugural official sponsor.”

“Lantronix has been a long-time partner to the education market, providing many IT solutions over the years,” said Kurt Busch,  President and CEO, Lantronix. “With the increasing adoption of tablets and other mobile devices in the classroom, it is clear that schools need a simple and cost-effective mobile printing solution. Supporting our education institutions and promoting meaningful digital integration into the classroom is something we believe in, and we’re happy that we can play a role to ease the transition to the digital classroom.”
