productronica 2013 will take place in Munich from 12 -15 November. Held every two years, this year’s productronica marks the 20th time the Trade Fair has been staged since its launch in 1975. In addition to showcasing the very latest in production equipment and production techniques, productronica 2013 will also encompass the many industry sectors that operate alongside product manufacturing. These include Test and Measurement, Materials, Logistics and Legislation. • 2013 will see 20th productronica • Four key sectors will be highlighted throughout the Fair • electrical energy storage Show held for second time • PCB and EMS Community Area expanded for 2013
As usual, productronica 2013 will be much more than simply an exhibition where companies show product to visitors. There will be special areas of interest spread throughout the exhibition halls and productronica 2013 will also focus on several industry sectors considered key to the future of the electronics production industry. These new focus areas include:

• Manufacturing technologies for cables and plugs for networking renewable energies
• Coilware manufacturing, LED manufacturing and discrete components that relate to electromobility and photonics
• Efficient production management for automation in manufacturing
• Electronic manufacturing services (EMS) as an important driving force behind innovations
As well as these new and innovative areas of future growth, productronica 2013 will also present products and services in the following sectors:
• Semiconductor and display manufacturing
• Micronano-production
• PCB and other circuit-carrier manufacturing
• Component mount technology
• Soldering technology
• Organic and printed electronics
• Hybrid-component manufacturing
• Materials processing, LED production and discrete devices
• Technologies in cable processing

• Test and measurement, quality assurance
• Product finishing
• Production logistics and material-flow technology
• Production subsystems

Modest Growth in Exhibitor Numbers Reflect VDMA’s Industry Forecast
In its most recent publication, the Productronics Association within the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), forecast moderate growth in sales for manufacturers of components, machines and systems for the electronics industry. Since productronica depicts the market for electronics manufacturing in its entirety, it reflects the economic situation across the entire industry. Christian Rocke, Exhibition Director of productronica: “We have seen a slight increase in the number of exhibitors and can only confirm the VDMA’s forecasts. The industry is still optimistic about the coming year.”

So far, registrations indicate that approximately five percent more exhibition space is occupied than at this point two years ago.

The PCB & EMS Community Area had its premiere at productronica in 2011. Together with the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) and leading exhibitors, the platform is being expanded even further. The clean-room industry, an important topic for many production sectors in electronics manufacturing, will also have its own platform this year. As well as a clean-room promotion area, there will also be a related forum. Other concepts are being developed with the Productronics Association within the VDMA.

The VDMA and Messe München have also been working to further develop a special show on battery production. “electrical energy storage” (ees) celebrated its premiere at electronica 2012 and will be held in conjunction with productronica in 2013. ees, the International Trade Fair for Energy Storage, Batteries and Innovative Manufacturing, will open its doors in Hall B4 from November 12 – 15.
