productronica will welcome international visitors to the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from November 10 to 13, 2009. Despite the difficult economic situation, productronica is holding its own and visitors can expect to see every major electronics production company from every aspect of the production sector.
The electronics production industry is currently suffering from a 60% drop in turnover, a fact which is having serious effects on companies’ investment activities. Klaus Dittrich, CEO of Messe München, organizer of productronica says: “We have prepared well and will present productronica 2009 to the industry as an event which offers both exhibitors and visitors even more overall value thanks to a large number of innovations. Leading international trade fairs are often more stable than the market since companies want to exhibit their products and services at these central industry meeting-points even during times of crisis. Every market leader will therefore be represented at productronica 2009, but in many cases with smaller exhibition stands than usual. Consequently, we have seen a crisis-induced fall of 30% in the amount of exhibition space. Just like in previous years, the trade fair will again cover the entire value-added chain.“

With the new claim “World’s leading trade fair for innovative electronics production“ and the motto “Innovation all along the line“, innovations have become the focal point of the trade fair. The logo and image of the trade fair have also been completely revamped. The focus areas will highlight leading suppliers, i.e. what they can offer in terms of innovative future-oriented products and processes. The focus areas will examine topics which represent the growth markets of the industry: photovoltaic manufacturing, micronano production, organic electronics and electronic manufacturing services. Young companies can book so-called Innovation Field Packages for these focus areas and therefore take part in the trade fair at a very reasonable cost. Special shows and forums during the trade fair will emphasize innovations in the industry far more than in the past and will offer numerous opportunities for exchanging knowledge and holding discussions.

Knowledge and opinion will also be imparted during a new event entitled Munich Electronics Summit. It will be held on the first day of the trade fair and will become an annual event which will link the electronica and productronica exhibitions. Dr. Jürgen W. Gromer, former President of Tyco Electronics, will act as the mentor for this event, which will comprise the public keynote address, the CEO Round Table - a well-established discussion forum featuring world-renowned group CEOs – and an exclusive networking evening for CEOs and top managers of large enterprises. Messe München is currently negotiating with one of the world’s leading management and economic consultants regarding the keynote address and the presentation of the exclusive event for company managers.

Dittrich’s summary: “We are determined to emerge with productronica from the financial and economic crisis in much stronger shape than when we entered it. The innovations which we are introducing at productronica 2009 are an important step in this direction. Other innovations will follow at productronica 2011. Messe München is well-known for its innovation capacity. We want to confirm this reputation through productronica.”
