Philips Signage Solutions and display specialist andersDX have joined forces to revolutionise screen use in schools and colleges with a new technology partnership which will help educational establishments adopt large format LCD monitors as they come down in price. Together, the companies are offering ready-to-use whiteboard replacement and informational signage packages based on Philips’ industry leading full HD 65” monitor technology, integrated with touch control and driven by andersDX compact and energy efficient PCs.

Philips Signage Solutions are opening a dedicated educational technology showroom in London to complement their current touring demonstration vehicle which visits schools and colleges around the country.

Commenting, Martin Ware, UK Country Manage, Philips Signage Solutions said, “Large format LCD screens are becoming more affordable, and can bring great benefits to schools and colleges both in the learning environment and for information delivery. Until now, no one has offered a complete, joined-up, end-to-end solution that addresses the needs of educational establishments properly and makes this technology accessible. andersDX and Philips Signage Solutions together are bridging that gap, providing ready-to-use solutions, that can be installed in classrooms, lecture theatres, foyers and cafeterias and brought into use immediately with a minimum of staff training.”

At the centre of the partnership is Philips 65” monitors, state of the art screens offering outstanding performance. For the classroom environment, these screens are integrated with high performance and robust touch screen technology and delivered as ready-to-use interactive whiteboard replacements. They can be supplied with andersDX comprehensive range of signage pcs, compact, low energy units that are ready to use with popular interactive learning environments including RM EasyTeach, Promethean and SmartBoards. The system is compatible with Windows, Linux and Android operating systems. The screens can also be supplied without the PC for use with existing school PC or Apple Mac computers.

For informational signage applications in schools and colleges, andersDX has integrated the Philips screens with an intuitive and easy to use content management system (CMS), complete with templates for popular requirements such as café menu and notice board creation. The CMS is fully networked, allowing any staff with permission to add notices and information to the screens. Screens in the foyer can quickly and easily be updated with news of individual and collective achievements and upcoming events, and the same information can be added to the menu screens in the café.

The andersDX and Philips Signage Solutions fixed and mobile showrooms feature 65” Full HD screens, with optical multitouch technology. The screens can respond correctly to up to five simultaneous touches, and can be networked for remote control. Philips signage screens are designed for 24/7 operation, and feature energy saving technologies such as LED backlights, Smart Power and panel saving to deliver some of the lowest energy consumption of any display in their respective class.

The Philips screens are fully compatible with any PC or Mac computer, but andersDX is recommending its signage pcs, highly compact units that can be mounted discreetly and securely to the back of the screen. The signage pcs use less than 10% of the energy of a traditional PC, and produce so little heat that no noisy cooling fan is required. Together Philips screens and the andersDX pcs provide a very low energy solution that will run reliably throughout the day with minimum impact on energy bills.
