NMI honours Ian Burnett

The National Microelectronics institute (NMI), the trade association representing the semiconductor industry in the UK and Ireland, has presented its ‘Contribution to Industry’ award to Ian Burnett. The presentation was made at the NMI’s annual awards dinner held in London, this year attended by more than 300 people.

Burnett, the Managing Director of IDB Technologies and a Director of Jemi UK, the Joint Equipment and Materials Initiative, was recognised for his personal efforts in supporting new companies in the sector, as both board member and mentor, and for his work in pulling new technologies from the science base and into commercial application.

Speaking at the awards dinner NMI’s CEO Derek Boyd said “I was very proud to present Ian with the award this year. He is someone whose efforts to support the industry go far beyond any personal interests. Ian has always given up a great deal of his own time for the benefit of the industry as a whole – purely and simply because he whole heartedly supports the need for a strong microelectronics industry in the UK and Ireland.”
