National Instruments today announced the appointment of Robert Morton as UK & Ireland Managing Director. Rob is a fourteen-year National Instruments veteran, joining NI in the UK in 1994 after graduating with a first class degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester. Rob joined the NI Engineering Leadership Programme (ELP), the premier route for career development for engineers at NI. Engineers on the ELP spend two to three years developing product and technical knowledge, as well as leadership skills, to prepare them for successful careers at NI. Intensive on-the-job and class-based learning, plus exposure to all the departments in the company, ensure the ELP produces a steady flow of well-qualified engineers to fuel continuing company growth.
Rob started at NI in the Inside Sales department, learning the breadth of NI products, and talking with and advising customers about their requirements and applications. He then spent time in the Applications Engineering team, developing the depth of his technical knowledge on NI products and supporting customers, before moving on to a role in Field Sales. Throughout eleven successful years in Field Sales, Rob has developed his considerable knowledge and experience of NI technologies, markets and customers. He has progressed from a Field Sales Engineer managing a sales territory through to managing Field Sales and Systems Engineering teams, and playing a leadership role as a member of the UK & Ireland management team.

Rob succeeds Ajit Gokhale, who is taking up a position as International Sales Manager, continuing to work closely with Rob and the UK management team to ensure a smooth transition and to support the future success and growth of the UK & Ireland operation. I am excited about this new opportunity to contribute to the success of NI here in the UK & Ireland, said Morton, and I look forward to leading and continuing to work with the talented UK & Ireland team. I remain personally committed to ensuring customer success, which drives growth and provides challenging and enjoyable careers for employees.

Rob Morton brings a wealth of talent and experience to this role, said Gokhale, and I am confident his expertise and leadership will continue to contribute to and build on our long-term track record of success and growth in the UK & Ireland. Francis Griffiths, Vice President of Sales for Europe, said, As a long-time graduate of the UK's ELP and a successful leader within NI, Rob is ideally placed to support and drive customer success, sales growth and employee career development in this important European market.
