Liverpool based manufacturer of high performance filters and capacitor products for supply to the automotive, defence, telecoms and other professional industries, MPE was a runner up in at this year’s EEF Future Manufacturing Awards.

MPE was runner up in the Developing Future Talent award, sponsored by Randstad Inhouse Services as well as also taking the runner up award in the Business Growth and Strategy category, sponsored by RSM.

The Developing Future Talent award recognises the manufacturer that has looked to build skills, talent and develop their employees internally and promote engineering and manufacturing careers through activities within the community whilst the business growth looks at organisations that have taken huge steps at growing or entering new markets.

MPE won the regional round of judging back in November and was up against stiff competition from a range of innovative businesses, both small and large.

It was awarded the runner up title by a panel of judges drawn from business leaders, industry experts and academics after impressing them. The judging panel stated: “MPE have taken huge steps to ensure attitudes within the business are always focused upon improvement. The NVQ level training that has been rolled out shows that they value a problem solving culture.”

David Seabury, Director at MPE, said: “I was extremely pleased to win the regional award a few months ago and to again be recognised nationally as a forward thinking business is fantastic. We have looked to develop a problem solving culture across the whole of the business and I’m delighted this has been recognised. Everyone within the business has bought into this idea and I wouldn’t be here receiving the praise if that wasn’t the case.”

Sally Cleary, Managing Director of Randstad In-house Services, said: "The competition within this category was fierce, the entries were truly inspirational and is testament to the talent the industry is nurturing. As an in-house recruitment partner to so many of the UK's manufacturers, we work hard to support our clients in providing solutions within the sector skills shortages.

"This is why it was so important for Randstad to be part of the recognition of future proofing inspiring talent and celebrate and share in your success stories. I'd like to thank all of the finalists and congratulate MPE on their win on the night. MPE is a great role model to entice more talent into manufacturing."

Mike Thornton, RSM Partner and National Head of Manufacturing, said: “The UK boasts a strong manufacturing sector which is at the forefront of embracing developments in technology and infrastructure to ensure excellence across the industry. Despite uncertainty, manufacturers are resilient; and in unfavourable trading conditions the heart of the UK economy innovates, thrives, keeps calm and carries on. The EEF Future Manufacturing Awards offers the perfect opportunity to recognise and celebrate key achievements of individuals and businesses that are spearheading change across the UK."

Stephen Phipson, CEO at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, said: “Developing future talent and growing business is vital for all manufacturers. The sector is changing at a phenomenal pace so I encourage other manufacturers’ to take a leaf out of MPE’s book by taking positive steps in up skilling their workforce, preparing for change and growing their business.”
