At productronica, GOEPEL electronic introduced a new controller series named SFX/ASL1149-(x), the next addition to the revolutionary JTAG/Boundary Scan hardware platform SCANFLEX.
The new family of SCANFLEX Boundary Scan controllers (SFX Controllers) features three integrated interfaces for GBit Ethernet, USB2.0 and Cabled PCI Express, and includes three models in different performance classes.

“Modern JTAG/Boundary Scan controllers don’t only have to be performant and good integrable but flexible to different infrastructures and changing application demands. Our innovative SFX/ASL1149-x sets new standards for this purpose”, says Thomas Wenzel, managing director of GOEPEL electronic’s Boundary Scan Division. “Users can varyingly apply the controller between different target environments and control via the internet. That means new opportunities in implementing combined strategies of Boundary Scan, dynamic emulation test and high-speed in-system programming of Flash and PLD.”

The SFX/ASL1149-(x) controller series is the worldwide first with three integrated Gigabit interfaces in one device. They are available in three performance classes A, B and C. The models differ in the maximum TCK frequency (20, 50, and 80 MHz, respectively) and in the degree of implementation of the enhanced SPACE™ chip set for high performance scan operations. In contrast to conventional solutions, the integrated FASTSCALE™ technology allows an upgrade of the controller’s performance class “on the fly”, without intricate fitting of additional hardware. Standard features on all SCANFLEX® controllers include ADYCS™ II for signal path delay compensation, and HYSCAN™ for dynamic splitting of serial TAP vectors and parallel I/O vectors. The device can be online controlled by means of an embedded web server.

Optionally, GOEPEL electronic provides a bridge for PCI Express to Cabled PCI Express by a plug-in card. The distance between PC and controller can be up to seven meters on basis of a respective standard cable.

In combination with additional modular SCANFLEX® components, such as SCANFLEX® TAP transceivers (SFX Transceiver) and SCANFLEX® I/O modules (SFX Modules) LAN, USB and Cabled PCI Express controlled Boundary Scan systems with up to eight Test Access Ports (TAP) and 31 additional functional modules can be configured.

The SFX/ASL1149-(x) controller family is fully supported in the industry leading Boundary Scan Software SYSTEM CASCON™ from version 4.5.2 on.
